Questions

Questions hosts ask.

If yours is not here, it belongs in the guide's own list of unanswered questions — which is roughly the point.

  • What is Askello, exactly?

A guest guide for your place, with an assistant sitting on top of it. Your guests open a link or scan a code, read the guide, and can ask it anything. It answers from what you wrote.

  • Do I have to write the whole thing myself?

No. You paste what you already send guests — the check-in message, the house rules, the listing description — and Askello drafts it into sections. You then edit it, which is much faster than starting from nothing.

  • Where do the answers come from?

Only from the sections you have published. The assistant is given your guide and nothing else, and every answer names the section it came from, so you can check it.

  • What happens when it does not know?

It says it does not know and points the guest to you. It does not guess. The question then appears in your list of unanswered questions, with a count of how many guests have asked it, so you can add it to the guide.

  • What language does it answer in?

Your guest's. Somebody writes in Italian and gets Italian back, from a guide you wrote in English. You do not translate anything.

  • Do my guests need an app or an account?

No. It is a web page. They open a link or scan a code and start reading.

  • Who can see my guide?

Anyone who has the link. There is no password, because a password is one more thing to lose at 2am, and the link is not listed anywhere or given to search engines. Treat it the way you treat the key box code: fine to share with a guest, not something to post publicly.

  • Should I put the door code in it?

Our honest answer is that a code you change between guests is fine, and a code you have not changed in three years is not — and that was already true of the message you send by text. Wi-Fi, appliances, bins and the neighbourhood are what the guide earns its keep on.

  • How do guests find it?

Two ways, and most hosts use both: the link goes in your check-in message, and the printed card with the QR code goes on the fridge or by the door for the ones who never read the message.

  • Can I use it for more than one place?

Yes, on the Portfolio plan — up to five, each with its own guide, its own code and its own answers. If your places are similar you can copy a finished guide to the next one and edit the differences.

  • What does it cost and can I stop?

The guide is free for one place, permanently. Answers are €9.90 a month, or €79 a year. You cancel from your own account and keep the guide; the assistant simply stops answering at the end of the period you paid for.

  • What happens to what my guests type?

It is kept for 90 days so you can see what people asked, then deleted. It is not sold and it is not used to train anybody's model. The privacy page has the detail.
